The Story
The Yolk Bros follows the wholesome adventures of two bros tryna get yolked. Created in the gym by real-life best friends Jake Hollander and Lester Park-Knight, the series began as a playful exploration of gym culture and evolved into something deeper and more reflective.
While the animated shorts focus on quick, comedic, and often topical moments, the broader world of The Yolk Bros expands through an ongoing webcomic with a more cohesive narrative. Together, these formats explore themes of found family, emotional intelligence, and personal growth, often highlighting moments where empathy and understanding win over brute strength.
The tone remains consistently positive, encouraging, and forgiving - even as the world itself hints at something much larger and more mysterious beneath the surface.
CHARACTERS
Benny
Benny is calculated and articulate. He’s slow to act - a measure twice, cut once kind of guy. He isn’t very impulsive, and he believes observation matters more than action. He tends to have an encyclopedic memory, that he’ll mentally page through to try to find the answer to a problem. He’s slow to understand his emotions and often doesn’t realize how he feels until well after the moment has passed. He often avoids processing his feelings and bottles them up until they explode. Benny feels most at home playing chess, doing a crossword, or programming a video game. While he’s always down for an adventure, he needs time to recharge. As a classic introvert, his quiet time is essential.
Sunny
Sunny is a bundle of joy who will never turn down a hug. His weapon of choice is a smile, and his ammo is supportive words. He stands up for what he believes in and never stays silent in the face of injustice. Quick to forgive and even quicker to forget, he repeats mistakes and forgets things all the time. Chores, names, sometimes even leg day. His eagerness often gets him in trouble because he doesn’t always think before he speaks or acts. And yet, he has a way of knowing exactly what someone needs to hear when they’re feeling down, even if he doesn’t always know what he needs himself. He feels things deeply, but isn’t always great at regulating those emotions.
THE WORLD
Beneath its lighthearted surface, The Yolk Bros world has a sense of depth and mystery, if you pay close enough attention. Much of this larger lore is explored through the webcomic, where the bros’ journey expands into a broader narrative surrounding their purpose, and the fate of their gym.
The gym environments are designed to feel ethereal. They’re comprised of soft pastel tones, neon gradients, and Hellenistic style architecture that create a cathedral-like air. Gyms in this world serve as a universal place to worship the mind and body. Yet the setting often includes subtle, ominous details that hint at a much larger world and mythos lurking behind the scenes.
